This webinar explores several easy ways to use classroom research to improve our own teaching, intuitions, and understanding of our learners. We’ll focus on simple ways to guide our classroom practice with easy-to-manage research techniques, data gathering and data analysis.
As teachers, we develop and rely on our intuitions, reflections and classroom monitoring to understand learners’ needs and evaluate our work. However, so much happens in our classrooms that we can’t notice and reflect on everything as we go.
Checking our intuitions and observations is very useful, and simple classroom research activities are an invaluable part of teachers’ individual CPD. We can focus specifically on our own developmental needs, our learners’ needs, and any challenges our teaching context presents.
The research data we collect contain valuable insights. This allows us to adapt our teaching confidently and methodically and to better support our learners and colleagues.
Adam has extensive experience as a teacher trainer, teacher, materials writer and editor. His wide-ranging interests include teacher development, language development, identity and inclusion, classroom research, inclusive phonology and global issues. Sensations English was a finalist in the 2021 British Council ELTons award for Innovation in Learner Resources and won two British Council ELTons commendations! The first, for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, recognised the global and social range of our English learning content, covering contemporary issues and giving learners access to a wide range of issues and global English voices.
Secondly, we were the only winners of the British Council’s inaugural commendation for Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action! Our content covers such a diverse range of climate and sustainability content, opening learners’ minds to global issues and efforts to resolve them, giving learners the language to engage and raise their voices on this vital area of life.
How Sensations English works

This helps learners to think about their own contexts and develop their own voices.
